About Us

Access to Justice Through Expert Evidence

Founded to bridge the gap between highly qualified subject-matter experts and the severely restricted funding environment of UK legal aid.

Our Mission

Legal Aid Expert Witness was established to ensure that access to justice and life-saving expert evidence is not limited to privately funded appellants. In the UK asylum system, expert reports can be the difference between protection and return to persecution — yet finding experts who work within legal aid rates has historically been a significant barrier for solicitors.

We remove that barrier entirely. Every expert in our network agrees to LAA codified rates before joining. Solicitors receive instant, funding-compliant quotes and tribunal-ready reports without the delays and administrative burden that have become endemic in legal aid practice.

Our Values

Uncompromising Independence

Every expert maintains strict impartiality. Evidence is prepared in compliance with CPR Part 35 and FPR Part 25, free from instructing party influence.

Administrative Efficiency

We reduce the administrative burden of expert instruction. LAA-ready quotes, streamlined portals, and funding-compliant processes from the outset.

Trauma-Informed Practice

Our experts recognise that asylum appellants are among the most vulnerable participants in legal proceedings. Assessments are conducted with dignity and sensitivity.

Absolute Confidentiality

All instructions are handled in strict confidence. Client information is protected in accordance with data protection legislation and professional obligations.
